Canestortion

Using a combination of technique and optics, this series emphasizes linear distortion and severance. The patterning creates two versions of what is called the ‘moire’ effect. This is a visual perception that occurs when viewing a set of lines superimposed on another set of lines, where the sets differ in relative size, angle, or spacing. Additionally, the visual distinction creates both a simple, yet complex relationship between the levels of each work. Even the simplest things can be deeply complex. This series received recognition at the Made in North Carolina Awards in 2019.
